Drive down the price of broadband
With so many people now downloading popular shows online on BBC iPlayer, you're in danger of going over your broadband usage limit if you’re on a basic package. And once you go over your monthly limit you'll usually end up paying extra.
But o2's broadband package is the cheapest around for unlimited usage. You can get it for £12.50 a month but if you’re already an 02 customer it’s a bargain-basement £7.50 a month - quite amazing!
Full information on all the top deals is in Martin's Cheap Broadband article.
Cut the cost of digital TV
Sainsburys is selling Freeview TV boxes for just £9.99 in many of its big stores. The boxes, which allow you to watch channels such as BBC News 24, Sky Sports News, and five US, are going quickly so make sure you phone the store beforehand to check it has the box in stock.
More information on techniques to slash TV costs is included in Martin's full Digital TV Cost Cutting guide.
£10-off shopping for all Amex cardholders
If you’ve got an American Express card you can get £10 off every £50 spend at department store House of Fraser until 31 March.
You’ll need to apply for a voucher via a special email address: houseoffraservouchers@aexp.com. Send a brief request, including your full name and address, then, once the coupon arrives, simply hand it in at the till when making your purchase.
Interestingly, there's no limit to the amount of vouchers you can have or use per transaction so, if you're canny, you can grab up to 20% off anything (minus some concessions), including sale items.
How to grab some free booze
First Direct current account holders can get themselves six free bottles of posh wine when they open a bog-standard First Direct credit card for the first time. Apply before 31 March and the free booze will be delivered from Laithwaites within eight weeks of opening the account.
And you don’t need to spend anything on the card – all you need to do is open an account. However, applying for too many cards can impact your credit score so try not to apply for more than one every two months or so.
Full details on all the free gifts available from lenders are included in Martin's Credit Card Freebies article.
