UPDATE: Bank Charges

Wed 23rd April 2008

The result of the landmark High Court test case between the Office of Fair Trading and the banks will be handed down on Thursday. This will answer the question of whether bank charges can be classed as unlawful under unfair contract law. If so, the OFT must then say whether they are unlawful, which it’s likely to do.

If that happens the door for bank charge reclaiming should be reopened, after it was slammed shut by the City watchdog the Financial Services Association last year, while the case was going through the courts.

Before claims were put on hold the banks had already paid out an estimated £1bn.

Read the full up-to-date details in Martin's Bank Charges News article plus full reclaiming information and free templates are included in the step-by-step Bank Charges guide.
