They Fought & Won!

Tue 15th January 2008

‘I fought the Lloyds’ is not only a hit single but a celebration of the power of the consumer over one of the pillars of UK banking.

Oystar singer Dan wrote the song after winning £530 in overdraft charges from Lloyds TSB, using template letters from Martin’s bank charges reclaiming article. He posted it on Martin’s forums, where it went down a storm. Then it was spotted by music producers at Tonedef Tunes and Indie Mobile, who were so impressed they offered to produce it for a proper release.

The song sets original lyrics to the instrumental of The Clash's 'I fought the law', and features Martin in the role of 'sensei', employing his wizened MoneySaving knowledge to steer his young protégé for the big fight ahead.

The song is currently at number 25 in the charts, the second highest new entry. If you'd like to buy the track or read more information on it, check out Martin's Bank Charges Song article.
