Tine Kongsgaard and her fiancé Euan are experts at getting the most from their reward cards, so much so they have cut the cost of their honeymoon in half because of their accumulated shopping reward point.
The couple, from Bicester in Oxfordshire, who are getting married in May, regularly shop at Tesco and have been collecting Clubcard points for 18 months. They already have £700 to put towards their dream honeymoon later in the year, which will be to either Australia or New Zealand.
Not only do they get their food shopping at the supermarket but they buy their petrol there too. Tine’s also always on the look for products with double or bonus points and will sometimes pay for her shopping online as it can entitle her to extra points.
So far, she has collected £175 worth of points. Yet because Tesco allows you to quadruple your points to exchange for deals such as holiday packages, the real value of them is around £700. Tine reckons she is already halfway to paying for her honeymoon and is confident her and her fiancée can shave even more off the cost.
