A Feast For A Fiver!

Wed 7th May 2008

Cutting down on food bills doesn’t mean cutting back on your enjoyment of food – as Jeni Dearing can prove. Jeni regularly hosts dinner parties in her Cornwall cottage for friends.

One of her favourite dishes is a three-course Indian which costs a bargain basement £4.99 to make.

She treated her husband Kevin and three friends to the dishes at a dinner party that we filmed, which allowed her to show off her thrifty culinary talents.

But her cost-cutting culinary talents don’t end there. She also makes her own pizza, bread and soups at a fraction of the cost of buying them ready-made from a supermarket.

And sweet treats like muffins and cakes are also baked at less than half the price of those sold in the shops.

Read Jeni’s complete instructions and recipe.
